Where to find government contracts for bid

SAM.gov is the official and complete source for federal opportunities, free, no account needed to search. DIBBS covers Defense Logistics Agency supply items separately and is worth knowing if you sell parts. Both are authoritative; neither is pleasant to search.

USAspending publishes every federal award, free. This is the most underused resource in contracting. Before bidding anything, look up what that agency has bought in your code before, what it paid and who won. It tells you whether there is an incumbent and roughly what the number should be.

No central list exists. Most states run their own portal, and cities and counties typically sit on one of a handful of platforms such as BidNet, Bonfire, PlanetBids, OpenGov or IonWave. The practical approach is to find which platform your own state and county use and watch those, rather than trying to cover everything.

The problem is rarely finding lists, it is that the lists are enormous and mostly irrelevant. Filter hard on your NAICS codes, on place of performance you could actually service, and on set-asides you qualify for. That usually takes thousands of notices down to a handful worth reading.
